Thanks for all your comments. I've always admired this fountain, but I never attempted to photograph it at night until now. --Garrett

Absolutely fantastic. The water looks frozen and reflections complete the image

Excellent shot Garett. I thought of something similar, but you got it first, and briliantly! One of the most interesting fountain shot's I've seen.

The long exposure effect works very well here, softening the look of the water and giving good DOF.

I also like that silky look that the water has

Garrett:

This is a beautiful image. I love the color and the way the lights play on the water.

Thanks for your comments and suggestion, Don. That Layers trick creates an interesting effect, but I think I'll leave the photo as is. I just noticed that several of the lights under the fountain are burnt out, so this fits the challenge theme better than I originally thought. --Garrett

Lovely photo, Garrett. After checking your daylight photo, I see this fountain pours into water... which looks like stone here. I was rather hoping people could walk into the fountain and experience it from the inside... oh, well, it's still beautiful. As for light intensity, here's an easy thought for you... if you're using Photoshop, duplicate the layer (Ctrl-J) and set Mode to Multiply and leave it at 100% Opacity. Voila... lower lights. Cheers, Don.

Since you asked, I uploaded a daytime photo of this fountain at

I'm beginning to wonder whether this image has too many lights for a challenge called "Lights Out." What does everybody else think? --Garrett

The long exposure changes the character of the water. I think it's perfect. I'd love to see another picture of this fountain in the daylight just to see how different the water looks.
