Dorys, It's funny you should describe this as you do because when I saw it it made me think of a diorama at the American Museum of Natural History... almost as if he were on display. But actually he was just sitting there looking amazingly regal. I did crop this and the composition improved when I focused in more closely on him. Thanks for your comments. Ann

This shot is almost surreal. It looks like something you'd see in a museum, like something sculpted out of clay and then painted. I think the subject just a bit off center works well too.

Lovely photo Ann. I like the ghostly tree in the background and the eagle is superb.

I figured out the noise problem. This eagle was sitting in the fog on the stump. I did a bunch of processing in Capture 1 to remove the foggy look. The result was dramatic colors but much introduced noise. I just redid it and left the foggy look, clearing up the fog to just before noise entered. I like this better even though it is less dramatic. Ann

Good questions Andreas. I set the camera on ISO 400 and used the P setting because of the changing conditions. It was a dark day with rain and mist and snow on the ground. The pictures all came out under exposed. They were raw format so I could tweak them which I did using Capture 1. The result was the noise. I would rather it wasn't there and will use a different approach next time. Ann

Great composition and exposure, its a shame about the noise though. Why is it so noisy at only iso 400, and with that high shutter speed what was the need for high iso?
