Stability? * 3rd Place

Yorktown, VA

Unstable equilibrium at its best. I got it to balance there for about 30 minutes no problem while I photographed :)

I love the blue and white contrast. I also like the color choice of your border/matte. Your other two entries are as captivating as this one. Great job with the G2.

Thanks for sharing Andreas. Good to learn.

Thanks alot for the praise. The lighting was achieved using my new 420ex :), and because I just recieved it, I experimented alot with different bounce/diffusion techniques. I used a white posterboard curved over 90 degrees for the seamless backdrop. I used a silver auto windshield sunscreen as a makeshift reflector. I think it actually worked better than a regular round reflector because it consists of two round reflectors that could be angled to form one large concave surface. I also shot the flash through a piece of wax paper folded on itself about 4 times to act as a diffuser. I think I am gonna buy the cable for the 420 ex so that I can have it off camera, as this would help with managing shadows better.

Andreas, like it. From all your shots to-date it seems you have a real talent for lighting. I'd love to hear how you did the lighting/backdrop for this if you don't mind sharing. After the voting if you prefer. Thanks. Paul.

Good balance of shape and colors in this one. Must have also taken some patience to get it balanced. I'll bet you walked softly for the 30 min you were shooting.
