Red Light District*

Holland

For some reason, Pbase is making this image look weird if you're viewing at
anything other than *original* size. Sorry about that. Nothing I can do.

Well maybe it isn't an icon after all, as several of you have mentioned it, I guess I must be in the minority. Still, the challenge gave me an excuse to do the pic in the first place. I have another in mind, but I don't think I'll get it done in time.

I haven't been, so can't comment and without the tip didn't shout a particular nation to me - coulda been Soho or a depiction of anywhere with a red light district. But if the people who've been to amsterdam immediately recognise this then it does the job but perhaps has a narrower audience - or maybe I should travel some more. All that said - I think it is a very well done image with an excellent pose.

Well done (as usual) Nice to see the model is sitting on something and not floating, although it could be a tiny bit more obvious. Is this really an icon for Holland? I was thinking more of tulips, windmills and Friesian cows (the latter of which I was meaning to get a photo of for the challenge

I've been to the red light district in Amsterdam (not for long, and I walked really, really fast!) and I picked this right away! Has the same nightmarish quality about it. This young lady has a little too much class though :-)
Good pic, Iso and an interesting take on the topic.

Great use of lighting, and expression of model reflects sadness of red light districts well. Wouldn't have guessed the national origin, though, without your clue.
