Platform : One *

"Here he lounges, looking ahead, his life is a blur. Does the answer lie behind?"

I wish I could lay claim to thinking of that line. But I can't ;-)

Iso, just looking back through the gallery with my new found enthusiasm for "Levels" in PS - did you try this with a darker feel ? Somehow it seems too 'well lit' and bright to be as moody as I think it could be. I think you could give it a darker and more sinister edge that way maybe. Just a thought IMHO. Paul D.

Ahh..f11, yes I think I remember that from my SLR days. Kind of a drag being stuck with f8 on the G3, but maybe next year I'll get that 400D...

Hi Steve. It's F11, iso200 and a mere 1 second exposure. The train is pretty quick through here!

Nicely executed. Can you provide exposure info? The broad DOF works well with the long perspective here. The "Way Out" sign is a nice touch too.

One small thing--the overhead light to the rear of you obscures your profile a bit. Not something you could really see with a timed shot like this, but if you were forward a few inches maybe it would have been hidden behind you.

I took a lot of shots on the platform at various angles, ideas etc to make sure I'd get the exposure right when the decisive moment came. I thought if I messed up the pose when the train went by I could always do a composite if needed. This is the first passing train of the night and it just worked! Took a few more later, but not as good as this. No PS tricks either except for cloning out a post. I'm glad - it was more challenging! The trains run each way about every half an hour. If you don't get it right it can be a long night!

Wow...amazing image. Also amazing how many train/tube images this challenge has "thrown up" - I was going to do some myself but will have to rethink. Maybe its because we all have to endure these things so much. I take it you got this shot first time? Or did you have to wait for a few trains to pass?!!?! Paul D.

LOL It's the major emphasis of almost everyting to the right and the subtle minor sign pointing to the left that makes this picture for me. Coupled with the line it's great, as usual!

I never really thought of trains and railway stations as having an emotional air! But you and Don have both captured a certain feeling. Great pic as usual, love the black and white.
