The Sunsphere was built for the 1982 World's Fair and is the most recognizable landmark in Knoxville (partly due to an episode of The Simpsons where Bart knocks it down). The 266 foot tall steele base is topped with a five-story globe that is made up of bronze-coated reflective glass.
