I think you need more depth of field to get more of this in focus. Shooting from the top, or with an opaque bowl, might also help, as the bowl itself distracts from the image. Or maybe just fill the bowl higher :)

Vanilla or strawberry could also offer some useful contrast.

Food is very dear to my heart and so lots of my initial ideas for this challenge revolved around food ! I like this picture because it looks yummy. I was going to try to show hate as well by combining an image of sweets and your teeth after a trip to the dentist but it was a nasty sight so I didn't do it. I DO like the fact you've combined love and hate though - love of food, hate of the 'bad' side of it in terms of the effect on your body/health.

This is a good picture, it would be great if the sharpness went across all surface of the icecream.
