Lovely colors and I like the centered composition on this Kurt, but I wish the DOF was just a tad greater to have the ends of all those little red, fuzzy parts in focus. CJ

Penny - the strong reds are a bit of a frustration for me with my setup. I shoot RAW and convert in Aperture. For some reason, especially with macro, the 40D RAW converts oversaturated reds. Normally, I need to add contrast (between .06-.10) and sat (between 1.06-1.12) and adjust levels for all images. This image has minimal (1.03) boost (otherwise the yellows are too dull in RAW), just .04 contrast, min. levels and sharpening. Also minimal (?<10%) crop.

Setup was tripod, remote trigger, mirror lock, diffuse sunlight.

The hairs are so detailed. Beautiful.

did you use a tripod? the color is kind of intense and I'm wondering if you tried to make that the focal point of this photo. Not that it's a bad thing....

Penny, the BG is just the pedals of the flower.

what is the background color from? Is it part of the flower?
