Reminds me of Disney's Gyro Gearloose, thinking cap and all. Perhaps that is where they got they idea for him.

Netsuke are really interesting and the ones I have seen were quite tiny too, about 2 inches high. Great composition and angle to get the focus where it needs to be. This looks like it's made from stone of some kind rather than wood. CJ

Nice pic Tom. I like how your lighting shadowed one eye! The DOF is a bit confusing - seems like it should be more forward from the face but I guess I am assuming more depth in the subject. It there some PP blur here? - angioman

Interpreting other art is a tough task but I like this with the focus on the caligraphy and eyes. Good work. -tv
