Thank you CJ, I had to try several flash settings to get the shinny penny to look like that. Im learning, Im learning ;)

Good macro Christakis! The DOF and difference in shininess really makes the one penny stand out! :-) CJ

tv, We put them in jars too. :) I bought one of those money counting jars. The shiny penny is one of 400 pennies I have in the jar with a grand total of £4 ($6.12) ;)

Nice new penny. I guess this is the UK whose pennies are worth a bit more than in the USA where they are worth nothing but the government keeps making them and we keep putting them in jars. Nice closeup of metal without glare. -tv

I like the shiny new penny compared to the others, good macro.

Interesting shot, Christakos, with good sharpness and DOF, as well as contrast between the shiny new coin and the dull and worn older ones.

Thanks Doug and Aam. Pennies are interesting (in a weird kind of way). You should see the new ones they are real trendy.

Well done. This one works for me. If it costs a "penny for your thoughts" you should expect a few more comments. -Doug

Good info there, Christakis. Cheers.

Cheers all for the comments.
Penny, I feared someone would think of that, however it is not where I was heading with this.
YB, Funny to mention that. In fact due to copper price increase the value of a penny in copper has exceeded its face value (Now worth 1.5p).
Rod, There are currently 3 designs of the penny still in circulation, in chronological order these are: New Penny (1971-84), One Penny (1985-2008) and the One Penny (2008-). The only difference between the first two versions is that one says NEW and the other says ONE (2nd penny on the right of the shiny one is a new penny). The 2008- version has a brand new design. I was hoping I would find one for this shot but they are not that common yet.

Are these the old penny's or the new pence? Nice clear picy Christakis.

The subject of a macro shot is the only thing a 1p piece is good for these days. I remember when I was young for 1p you could buy . . . . now it costs 50p to pee!
Welcome to the Challenge.
Good shot.
