Suburban Reflection

I have been spending time at my mother's house while she has been in the hospital the past few days. Most of her backyard has turned into a large puddle with all the rain. This is the part of it I was able to get to this afternoon. Tomorrow it's all supposed to freeze. Yippee.

Very nice Penny and the crop works well I think. I really like reflection shots and you do them so well.CJ

Okay, I made a slight adjustment with your suggestions in mind. I hope you like it better. Penny Street

The ripples are wonderful, Penny, but I'm with Rod concerning the grass at the top. I think I'd leave just a bit of the wispy, partially submerged stuff there. The more solid greener grass seems to detract from the subtle nature of the rest of the photo.

thanks Brent and Rod. I suppose I could shave 1/2 inch off the top but I kind of like the color going all the way across - thanks for the suggestion. We'll see.
And it's going to take me a little while to get used to this lens, Brent, but I know already that I'm pleased with the capabilities. Penny Street

Nicely done Penny, reflections always have some magic in them. I'm in two minds whether I would crop the top grass out as the magic seems to end there. The partly submerged grass top left seems to anchor the picy & helps the composition with no grass on the top right third. It's only a minor thing a.

Glad to hear your Mom is doing better Penny. Looks like you are getting the hang of that new lens already. I think you will really appreciate having Image Stabilization (and that lens has the latest and greatest) especially at the long end. I quickly became sold on the IS advantage with the lens that came with my new camera and am now selling my 70-20 lens and will replace it with the exact same only with Image Stabilization. I just have my fingers crossed the new piece will be as sharp as the one I am selling.

thanks Troy, Doug, Debi, YB, and tv -
My mom is better - they were trying to regulate her constantly fibrulating heart with medication. It seems to be working for now anyway - thanks for asking.

I could stare at reflections like this for hours if I had the time. Good rippling detail. Well exposed. -tv

Sorry Penny but you are contravening the rule that you are not allowed to post a pic taken with a new lens, for at least six months, or until I get a new camera. :)
You certainly know how to make gems of photos of reflections. I like the grass at the top, it adds stability to the rippling surface.
