Weights are used. There is no pointer :D and Thanks Carole & David - Debi

This looks really good in B/W and isolated nicely from the backround. No idea how that works, I see no pointer (or something similar). DaB

Great looking old scale Debi, and I don't mind the noise at all as it adds to the old time look. It might have been interesting to see some scrap metal in there, but still good without it. CJ

I like this one, Debi, but I wonder if some noise reduction would improve. Then again, this may be exactly the look you want, which is just fine.

Amazingly ancient appearing device. Good black & white rendition. -tv

Agree about the previous shot. Not a great image. But cant agree about the need for the shopkeeper to improve this shot. I think the balance can balance itself:D - Debi

How about the shopkeepers wife Aamm, that would make it better, especially in an ahrt picy......Know wot I mean:-)

Not too sure, Debi. Looks too static and lifeless to me. I would imagine zooming out a bit with the shop keeper moving in the background will bring the scale to life. Imo, of course :)

Settle down Debi just leave the great ahrt shots to me alright:-) This looks really good & the background is well suited.
