Thanks Mary Anne & Carole:-) The car park is one floor up & belongs to the shopping where you can see big w.

Very nice Rod! Again, without the title this could be a car park at an office building on a weekend. Love the pattern of sails, the lighting and the nice sky! :-) CJ

I've never seen such things in parking lots in the U.S., but I think you Aussies are onto a great idea here. Your b & w conversion is very good and has created a sky suggesting that something dramatic is about to happen. Makes you think.

Thanks Debi, Tommy & Brent:-) There were a few cars behind me that may have made it more of a shopping picy but I like pretty picys:-)

Difficult to associate with shopping but looks good - the shades are like giant kites - Debi

I immediately thought about the state of the world economy with this one- great image mate.

I can't decide if this represents a dirth of supply or of demand. Surreal commentary on the state of the world economy? Visually powerful aside from the "shopping" issues. -tv

In photography the eyes have it over words Penny & I'm really pleased you & me are on the same page. Thanks Penny:-)

With my tongue I don't speak the same language as you and YB, evidently, but with our eyes I think we must speak close to the same language, Rod, or I wouldn't like this picy as much as I do. Penny Street

I came to Oz because I couldn't resist a six week boat cruise for just ten quid. The only problem was the buggers never told me the ten quid ticket was only one way:-) Wot Olympics, we lost transmission to it down here when the Poms went ahead of us in the medal count:-)

Why did the Poms go to Auzzie? They should have stayed at home where cars are perfectly cool, and they get washed every day by the rain.

In the UK we put sails on boats, and win Gold medals in the Olympics.

Thanks YB:-) In my mind it does convey the concept of shopping as much as a window display shows the concept of shopping. The window display is done to entice people into your shop over someone else's shop, the shopping centre carparks do the same. Most reasonable size centres have about 80% undercover parking & 20% uncovered parking, the sun down here turns your car into a very hot oven in no time at all. To attract customers one shopping centre thinks of a way to attract more customers by erecting these shade sails to keep the sun off the cars so you can get into your car without cooking yourself & the kids. As happens in our wonderful free enterprise environment the other shopping centres start to do the same to win back their customers, now almost every outside parking areas have these sails. I rest my case.........Next witness:-)hehe

Great photograph - but does it convey the concept of "shopping"?

Hehe This is the shopping centre car park just before they opened this morning. The thingys are shade sails to stop the sun heating the car up too much. People down here even have them in their driveways to keep the sun off the car. So this is where you would park when the underground carpark is full so you can go...........................SHOPPING:-) Cars would spoil the picy a.

What are those things? And are they related to the BIG W?
And if this is a car park, where are the cars?
Sorry for so many questions but this is kind of a quizzical shopping picy.
