Thanks DT, Tommy & Cat32:-) All me adoring fans wanted more pop Tommy, who am I to argue:-) The other one did have more mood but for a big colour challenge this is poss more suited.

Absolutely amazing. It's shots like these that made me want to learn more about photography.

I really liked the now lost version.. er.. is it in pending? I'll go look... this is ok but lacks some atmosphere I remember (or made up) in the first posting. Sometimes things are better in the mind than in reality. -tv

This perspective is very interesting. I like it better than the alternate version. ~dtallakson

Excellent color. The tye dye looking bokeh is great. -COAmature

Rod - I think you got this one spot on. I really like it.
And the blue in the upper right provides a colorful frame and a balance to the black in the lower left.

Thanks mate:-) I hope this whanging isn't addictive.

This is looking really good Rod- love all the colors!

Thanks All:-) This was taken in the shade in very late afternoon light & I think this is where the blue comes from as it's a piece of greyish granite that must have picked up the blue of shaded light. I've bumped up the contrast a bit but I don't like to lose too much subtlety, you know me I'm so subtle:-)
Here's another version from the same shoot.

Rod - this is beautiful but............it needs whanging! I couldn't help but try it and the result is in pending - too much?????? :-D CJ

Great colorful background! What is it? And the blue?
Jim B (MSP)02-Aug-2008 18:21
Very fine photo; great composition and technical execution. But for this challenge, I'd bump the brightness up a bit.

I'm distracted from the flower, maybe, but I still love the photo (as is). I just don't know if it's a good entry for big color. And I wouldn't get rid of the blue on the right - it's the best part of the dreamy bg. Maybe - Rod, the genius you are at this - you could make the flowers pop out a bit more without touching the background?

I still found the violets to be the main point, but there's something slightly unsettling to me about the focus. It's just a little too dreamy and ambiguous... like it could be underwater, or in a mist, or maybe frozen in a lump of acrylic!

The color sense changes completely if you crop off the blues on the right edge. Maybe that is what is distracting Penny Street?

This is beautiful, especially the subtlety of the colors both in the flowers and the background. The problem for me is that this is a big color challenge and color is not the prevailing element in this photo. Everything is.

Great colors, Rod, but I think you need to increase the contrast (and maybe the luminosity) to make those purple flowers really "jump" up from that lovely OOF background.

OK moody tropical flower pics can still suck me in when so well done. The bokeh works perfectly here. -tv
