I agree with angioman. The brown, red and yellow go well together since they are all warm colors. ~dtallakson

Nice Karl, I like how the brown moth accentuates the background colors! - angioman

This is much better for a color chalenge then the rust was. Well done Karl. -COAmature

Yes smaller looks better, well done Karl,

Here's a smaller version. I think it compresses easily because the wings are such a uniform color and the background is smooth. I actually set it to around 80% quality in the editor.

This looks great Karl, nice color and really interesting moth. It could be just me as I am using a monitor I'm not too sure about, but it looks a little bright. This is a pretty large image too, were you able to easily save at high quality this large? If you had to compress a lot you might want to reduce the height to 700 pixels, it's easier to stay under 150k and more people will be able to view it without scrolling- seeing the image all at once is much more flattering.

oops, forgot to put my name on the previous "guest" comment...

Yes, I'm more focused on fiddling with the new camera than on making super clean photos right now. Most of these shots would have been impossible or impractical with our S50, in spite of its better manual modes. It just didn't have the resolution, sensitivity, nor near-focus range.

Also, my most recent hobby interest (between the high contrast and zone challenges) was scanning some of my old 35mm color film. I even pulled out our Rebel 2000 and dusted off the cobwebs for some new shots. So I think my eye is recalibrated to accept or even enjoy some noise and "grain"...

Yes nicely done bold colours Karl & great for this topic. I think you may have to be a bit wary by taking small crops from your picys & blowing them up as the noise goes up & the quality down.

I agree with Tom - nice to see the moth be the focus and the bright flower is a great background for the neutral coloring in the moth. CJ

Good one - this is a "big red".

nice one! Penny Street

This is an exercise in how to make a moth more than a moth and how to make a flower pic serve some purpose. Terrific contrast between the two and a rare shot for those reasons. -tv

People weren't digging the rust photo, so here's something different.
