The backyard menagerie continues! After having 86+ bats leave their roost on our garage a couple of nights ago, there was only one in the roost today, and this one which was found on a back railing. We're hoping it's OK. If it doesn't leave tonight, our contact at the SPCA will pick it up for evaluation.

Although bats aren't my thing, this is a good shot of the fellow. However, his behavior is odd & could be concerning. Around here, we worry about bats carrying rabies.

"Any bat that is active during the day or is found in a place where bats are not usually seen – like in your home or on your lawn – might be rabid. A bat that is unable to fly and is easily approached could be sick." Hope this one is okay.
