Wonderful detail and contrasting colors. I use soft light all the time, but never thought of it in terms of dodging and burning, thank you for the info. --mlynn

Kiki - The sky was a very uniform, uninteresting pale blue. I added a layer set at Soft Light, masked out the statue and then applied a gradient to the new layer. That darkened the top and lightened the bottom and IMO makes the image more interesting.
BTW, The "Soft Light" layer technique is the only way I do dodging and burning. Paint black to burn and white to dodge.
