Family Benched

Coney Island, NY

Perhaps the parents had to set boundries for
the child, which upset him. Or, perhaps it is
the railing that bars them from the beach that
makes them so isolated. No matter which, this
image seemed to fit the spirit of this challenge
for me.

Good interpretation of this theme Lonnit, I can imagine the father saying something like... 'stop sulking ... you cannot go for a swim after eating that Super Burger... you'll have to wait a while! etc... etc... lol. ~ Regards Melbob

I agree Lonnit, the theme of isolation is very strong in this image. I also get the feeling that there may be some tension between the boy and (assuming) his father. In this sense the mother is also a kind of boundary (force) keeping the family together. Regards, Najinsky

It works well, Lonnit. There really is a certain pathos in the three of them sitting apart from everyone else there. And their body language (esp. the boy's) does speak of some sadness.
