OK I see the light... the leaf above and to the left gave me the impression that it was some half inch or so behind the cocoon/litter but if it is actually near the focal plane then that makes sense.
I like your improvisational creativity... good work. Old retired (almost) buggers like me spend all of their hard earned retirement funds on goodies.. but alas.... goodies do not a photog make! ~ Regards Melbob
Well, it is f/18. Also, the bract at upper left and leaf at upper right are nearly parallel to the focal plane, to each other, and to the husk. The distance from front to rear of the husk is about the same as from the leaf at upper right to its stem, middle, top. Clearly, the leaf stem is out of focus.
Also, just to show I cheap I am, the clip that normally would hold the Raynox lens to my normal lens broke quite some time ago, so I held it in front of my lens with my left hand. Meanwhile, I used a piece of paper taped over my Vivitar flash to diffuse the light. I think it diffuses very nicely.
Well done Victor... creative concept and nice composition.
I am surprised at the considerable depth of field you achieved here Victor, I thought the 6X on that lens would have been much narrower.
