5th Place Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Pops

by Lynne Truss

An enjoyable read about zero tolerance punctuation.

From the book's back cover:
A Panda walks into a Cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots into the air.
"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.
"I'm a panda," he says, at the door. "look it up."
The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.
"PANDA. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

This photo is the panda cub Mei Lan at the Atanta zoo.

There is an Australian 'blue' version of the joke which ends Eats, roots, shoots and leaves. I'll leave you to fit the joke to the punchline. Lovely image pops. -Najinsky

Absolutely brilliant. The quote has made the book an instant "must read" on my list! :-) Super picture to go with it, Pops! Fortunately, this one does not look the shooting type! Regards jnconradie
