6th Place White on Blue by Traveller

This is an idea that also maybe didn't work out. I have really been interested in how absolutely well yellow and blue work together...so I thought I'd try a white and blue. This was shot with the 70~200 f4L and I'm thinking that I need:

1. a lot more dof

2. hence a different lense, maybe my 50mm 1.8

I think I'll have to go shoot it again.

Microscopic, galaxy scale or just plain human measurable dimensions...?
I love the way it is for us to decide.
Beautiful!

I'd say at least 20 of those page views are mine Traveller!... trying to decide which one I like best? This is great because in my view it is well captured, crisp focus, the DOF works for me because there is so much detail in the individual 'seed umbrellas' that the OOF ones just give a better sense of 3D.

As to crop, I think this works well with any comp. from square to offset rectangle and I think because the lighter bottom RHS background avoids any possible symmetry boredom! (... if you can follow my thinking????)

I think this also works well in the 'more natural' rather than PS'd because it is a recognisable 'living thing' beautiful in its own right... so doesn't really need any PS assistance!.... SO!... that is my $0.00002 worth ?

All great posts, ~ Regards Melbob

Neat.
Have you considered a square crop?

Well, if Cat says so...and Nico and Debi and Judi and Mr. Puff....I'll join along, I suppose and reign in my PP passions...lol. However, for me there has been real value in people taking a contrary postition to my views...Thanks, really, I shall think on this. Best Wishes, traveller

I'll go with this compared to the other two... simple and straight forward, without any distractions in the backgrond -Cat

I love it the way it is.

"How well yellow and blue work together" - Hail to the colors that float in the night.

Yellow and Blue are my Alma Mater's colors, of course they work well together! LOL!

Very pretty Taveller, I love dandelions and the white and blue are great, beautifully captured. Judi

Real nice Trav... I love the contrast of the white against the blue.

Hey Trav! Very interesting point of view and you did a great job on the image. How did you get that background to be blue? I'm really just curious. Markjay

I like it too, Trav. You already have these in CA? WOW! We're still a month away from dandelion flowers, let alone seed heads. I don't think you need more DOF, its kinda cool the way it is, but if you did, I don't think you need a new lens. Crank it up to f/11 or smaller with the ISO and give it a try. Of course, a 50mm f/1.8 is only $80, so ... ":^) go for it!! Warm regards, -mikey

This works well just as it is, Traveller. A very satisfying image.

Traveller, this is lovely and I think it worked out very well. I like the centered composition and the dof works for me. Nice combination of softness at the center and sharpness at the edges. -Michael
