Great Nico...You'll enjoy years great, fun company with those two.
I can reference you some great on-line crocodile meat suppliers from Australia, if you need. Remember, feeding the critter will come up to an hefty tag but it will be well worth it. All the best!

I went to our local pet shop this morning and ordered one. The owner advised that it takes quite some time before new stock will arrive, and that I should preferably purchase a Foosa in addition, just to keen it company. Not so sure that we will be able to cope with the foul smell, but sometimes sacrifices have to be made, not so. Will keep you guys posted... Regards jnconradie

Nico, I'm surprised that you have not come across one of these intrigueing creatures, but then they are not normally visible from the Southern Hemisphere.

As Barry pointed out at molting time they are most vulnerable and it is most unusual to see them. They usually bury themselves or adopt a more transparent mode for protection.

Excellent capture PK.... you really did well to actually catch one in the open like this.

Terrific post PK ~ Regards Melbob

That's an animal?!?! I would have guessed a piece of plastic pipe! Not even in the same league :( Thank you PK for a zoology lesson. If you have taken more pictures please do share. -Cat

The Rejak Sweena is a common sight in ARGAD5. I have encountered several in my previous voyages and explorations there. As Barry so aptly pointed out, it is quite uncommon to find a specimen in the molting time, as they become quite reclusive.
This one was about to shed the voluptuous blue exterior armor when I took the photo. Unfortunately, I ran out of power and was unable to collect a snapshot of the expelled armor. I am rather mad, as it would have been a precious, most rare register. Being a silica-based life form – and a very rare at that, since it is the only one able to synthesize and metabolize oxygen, without the associated calculus-forming problems – the Rejak Sweena displays the usual attributes, regarding transparency, radiance and the ever-so-present foul smell.
Nico, I am surprised you were not able to find anything related to the Rejak Sweena online. There is a plethora of information about it floating around. If you still have trouble, try typing “Horta” for a similar alien life-form.
Also, you can, buy and read “Casos de Direito Galáctico” (Cases of Galactic Law) by a Portuguese author, Mário Henrique Leiria, with several interesting judicial cases involving this mischievous little critter. (Don’t know if there is an English translation, though…) .

So rare to catch sight of a Rejak Sweena so close to its molting time.
