Orchid*

I hope you don't get too tired of seeing her.

She's been sitting in a vase for 2 weeks.

She keeps begging me to photograph her.

She's such a ham. :-)

Thanks Naj. I guess my eyesight is starting to go because it looks in focus to me. I usually manually focus. I may need to re-think that strategy with these eyes.

As for the ISO, I come from the 300D which is pretty noisy in my opinion at anything but 100 or 200 ISO. I'm needing to get over my fear of higher ISOs.

Lovely orchid dorys and you did well with the bokeh. I think if the two, ahem, balls, were in sharp focus it would have even more impact. I would also up the iso to 400 unless tripod mounted as 1/50s for a 100mm lens at 1.6 crop is a little slow and prone to a little camera shake. -Najinsky

Thanks for reducing it , Dorys! It looks to me like you were able to sharpen the throat of the orchid a bit., it looks good! ~Sharon

Darn it, I did reduce her once. But I didn't check. I'll get her slimmed up tonight.

As for sharpness, I could try to add a little USM but the DOF on this lens is very slim at f2.8 so what is out of focus is due to DOF.

Dorys, this is too big at 160,896 bytes. Please reduce it to 153,600 or less when you have a chance, thanks! ~Sharon

She really does look like a star with the bright bokeh looking like spotlights! I wonder if you could make her a bit sharper? ~Sharon
