CSLR Challenge 80: Bokeh (Host: Sharon Lips)

I thought it would be fun to try a bokeh challenge. Bokeh (actually spelled boke but pronounced bokeh) is a term taken from the Japanese meaning blur and in photography refers to the subjective aesthetic qualities of the out-of-focus parts of an image created by the lens. It usually means those roundish spots in the out-of-focus background of a shot with bright highlights and is created by a wide aperture. The shape of the spots will be different depending on the shape of the diaphragm opening of the lens. For the purposes of this challenge a shot without the spots would be fine but what is important is that the out-of-focus portions of the image serve to enhance the subject. So a photo with a flower and a soft uniform background would not be on topic. We are looking for something interesting but out-of-focus going on in the background (or foreground) that somehow relates to the subject. Here are a few links to more information about bokeh:

I am looking forward to good discussions on this subject and to all your creative images! ~Sharon
