The post processing would be secondary to the conditions of the shot and the lens used, AFAIK. If you don't have the basic 'nice blur', esp. in a shot as complex as this one, it's hard to make it up in PP. The longer lens with good light and a 'fast' aperture, would be my recommendation. Try this lens at the 35mm end. You might be surprised. -mikey

Yeah, I should have been more clear: with a better lens - bokeh-wise... I don't know the Tamron 17-35 in any other respect than what I see here. You _can_ get more pleasing bokeh with wide-angle lenses, though. My 'Essential Oils' photo in Exhibition was shot with a 15mm lens...

Amiad - The inherent long DOF of a wide angle lens, 17mm in the case of this pic, will make it difficult to obtain any bokeh to speak of. Using a wide-open aperture is good for bokeh, but not the 'short' lens. BTW, there is nothing wrong with the lens you used; it is a good sharp lens for its purpose, just not much good for bokeh at the 17mm end. I was going to say, "try the same shot at the 35mm end", but I notice you took this pic in March, thus making it ineligible for the Eligible Gallery, also making it difficult to re-shoot any time soon. Probably should move this to the Exhibition Gallery. Warm fuzzies, -mikey

To me, this is an example of 'less pleasing bokeh'... With a better lens, this could have been a very nice shot indeed...
