That's great, Mikey, it really does help, don't you think? ~Sharon

Thanks for the kind words and, OK, I darkened it a shade. I hope that gets a nod ":^) -mikey

Yes, I think I like this one better. The flower stands on its own as the subject of the image much better in this one. The center front petal is a bit too bright and thus distracting. You could darken it a bit or crop most of it out. A lovely shot! ~Sharon

Sharon - Thanks for the comment. Here's yet another shot from the series I took on 4 Nov. Much more detail on the flower itself and a more complex background bokeh. What do you think of this one? -mikey

I missed the temporary one, too, Mickey, but I really do like this one. The colors are fabulous and the OOF parts of the image add a vibrant background. I do wish the white flower had a bit more detail but it is a wonderful image nonetheless. ~Sharon

Thanks, Brent, Dorys & Nico for the nice comments. I guess I'll leave this one as is ":^) -mikey

I didn't see the temporarily posted image Michael, but this looks very nice. That colorful soft background looks great.

Ha, you are easy!!! But I really do like this version better.
Canon DSLR Challenge06-Nov-2006 14:46
Dorys & CJ, OK, I'm easy ":^). I really liked this one, too. I thought since the Challenge subject was bokeh that the other one had a more significant background. I guess it was a bit distracting and the subject of this one is more 'standout'. Thanks for the comments, -mikey

I agree with dorys about the other shot Mikey - I really liked the composition of that one and the b/g was on target as far as I was concerened! This is lovely too but I give the edge to the 1st one. :-) CJ

While I like this version too, I think I like the other version a bit better. The focal point, that little white flower, seemed to stand out a bit more. Where as in this shot, the white flower stands out but I find myself roving to the left at the in focus portion of the pink leaf.

Lovely photograph, Michael! Regards ~jnconradie

Dorys, Olaf, .. thanks for the support; I appreciate it. I did re-shoot this to get a more significant background, and did get that, I think. So, for now, this is the Bougainvillea of choice ":^) Thanks again, for the comments. -mikey

I think per the discussions I've seen on the thread, that this background does add to the overall effect of the photo and is not just a uniform, blurred background. I believe it to be on topic. And quite lovely as well.

Lovely!
