To give this a sense of being exposed on film, I added film-grain according to this latest tutorial of mine and then some vignetting...

Very nice. I love the concept and the lovely purples that show up at that angle to the display. Excellent in every way. Jim H.

Great take on the topic Olaf! I like how you captured the motion of closing the cell and the grain looks good to me. Thanks for the tutorial! CJ

Thanks for the high-quality tutorial, Olaf. I enjoyed it and found it just as valuable as your previous ones, by the way. In my opinion, you re-created the graininess of film rather well - and of course also compliments on finding such an innovative "purple" to capture. Well done! Regards ~jnconradie

Melanie, me neither! - but then you made me look for purple in my surroundings...

Sorry if this is not perfectly according to the rule of thirds. This 'object' could only be shot from this very angle - or else it would fail on the purple part of the requirements. I deal with proportions on a daily basis and I never considered the rule of thirds to be an exact science...

Anybody have any feed-back on how successful or unsuccessful I was in making this look more like film? I'd be really interested in hearing your views!

Good idea Olaf, I never would have thought of this! --Melanie

Thanks Trav! Not a lot of purple around here, but when I looked at my mobile from a certain angle, the display did have this color (the display background color is actually white when you look at it straight on), so I gave it a go, even though I should've been sleeping...

I've updated this image: made it a little brighter.

Dear Olaf: At first I smiled, wondering who this was from? Smart, very visually strong, telling the truth and a story at the same instant...of course, I thought, slapping my forehead...Olaf!
