Built in 1570, Humayun's Tomb was the first garden tomb in the Indian subcontinent and is situated in New Delhi and is also a World Heritage Site. This red and white sandstone building is believed to have been designed and erected by Humayun's queen Hamida Banu Begam. The structure of the tomb is divided into four squares separated by causeways, water channels pathways forming a typical Mughal garden called Charbagh. Humayun's Tomb inspired several other Mughal architectural innovations later including the famed Taj Mahal.
