Every superlative has been used already, but I can only concur that this is a knockout.

This is waaaaaay beyond my league. Truely extraoridinary work. The best I have seen so far from you. You should be proud of yourself Michael!!!! And if time permits would like to know how you did it, if you don't mind. -Cat

Just great.

I'm speechless so I'll just say "Ditto" to all the kudos! Truly amazing. I wish I could take PS lessons from you to learn how to achieve such stunning results. :-) CJ

Stunning.

On the downside (for me), I can't think of any way I can take a picture to beat this.
On the upside (for me), at least that frees up my weekend...

There is very little I can add to the comments below, simply stunning!
Guest 04-Aug-2006 05:01
Thank you all for the generous comments, I blush.

Cheryl, no DA, it is a composite of 3 images shot within the challenge period. Shu, sure, I'll try to put together a workflow...it won't be complete since I merged layers during processing but I will try to give you the major pieces. Richard, if you are serious then my email address is part of my dpreview profile...email me.

Traveller, my friend, the conceptualization might be more comical than anything else, but here you go. First, David's header image of the Transamerica pyramid is fabulous and has been present in my mind since I saw it. Second, I happen to see and overhear someone making a "you're in good hands with Allstate" joke. Lastly, I travel from the bay side of the SF peninsula to the ocean side every day...the fog pours over the hills more days than not. It's an ever present visual image for me. These three elements came together for me (while commuting in the car) and I set out to see if I could do it. I suppose it's more of a pastiche of visual ideas than anything else. Hence it's untitled. -Michael

Michael, how do I add to the compliments already posted? I am completely stunned, speechless, flabbergasted, humbled, ... Totally in the different league!

:-) I think we should all "collude" to only allow you to win this challenge provided that you post a detailed "how the heck I did this" explanation... :-)

Regards ~jnconradie

I'm trying hard to find a flaw, but can't and my mouth is still hanging open...well, you sure have the "world" in your hands and maybe that isn't a bad idea considering the state it's in! If you care to give us a work flow for this one, it may prove to be good reading. LOL Seriously, Michael, you've WOW'd us many times but this time, you've outdone yourself! Shu

Michael,
How do I go about getting a copy of you to print for my wall. I will not put any of my own photos up because none of them (well maybe a couple) deserve a frame, this on the other hand does.

Awh Cr*p, I knew immediately that this was yours...everyone else now is deservedly shot out of the water. I'm pretty sure I know how you did this...but what interests me more is how you first put all the elements together in your head...how you conceptualized the image and then physically translated it into reality.

Well, kudos for sure. I actually think that you are getting better at this...you were good before of course, but there is a solid maturing of your vision, imho. Very Best Wishes, Traveller
