From the kitchen*

South Africa

To capture this, using a flash resulted in a very "flat" picture. To get some depth while keeping everything in focus, I killed all the lights, used f/32 for 30 seconds and lit the frame using a small torch.

Feels a little off to me. I understand technically you overcame an "extreme" but from the outside looking in I'd say this photo is missing something.

Well done... even my feeble brain got the sweet n sour & hot n cold connection? Your lighting technique worked well... and nobody can yell at you for using the "E" word, cos you didn't! ~ Bob

New indeed - nothing ventured, nothing gained. Looking at the quality of photos in this gallery, there is a lot that I can learn....

What an interesting collection! And nice to see a new participant's first posting - if I am not mistaken? I enjoyed reading your description of the technique you used and am sure I will also try this some time. Regards ~jnconradie

I have used that lighting technique many times. It's very effective as you can selectively light parts of the picture to highlight certain features.

This may be an odd technique to get the shot, but I like it. Well done. Best Wishes, Traveller
