Orchids I *

Certainly, it is not low light. Does it pass as low key?

Really nice, and all the better for being shot in situ rather than in a studio. Tim A

kt, thanks for comment. The petals of the flowers were backlit by the low sun and were very bright, this explains the exposure. This also explains the blackness of background which resulted severely underexposed. It was just the ordinary normally lit wall. I only slightly increased the contrast to get it totally black

Alexeig, I hate to use the word lovely but that's what it is. That exposure time of 1/1002 sec is a little unusual and I wonder what that means. The perfectly black background helped me identify a dead pixel on my monitor. Thanks. ~kt

As to whether this passes as a low key shot: it most certainly does! By the way, I think I prefer this one over version II and the reason is the bokeh in the out of focus parts - it is just so pleasing to look at... Version II is very good too though!

Beautiful! Perfect low key shot. I also like the depth-of-field in this shot. The out-of-focus petals are beautiful, just as the ones that are the sharpest are.
