I don't know Ed, you can produce some pretty good work at times,but this one is just too plain and too much shadow,I really can't see how you can improve the shot and I guess that was the comment you were looking for.
As for the people at the base it will be lost on many,just reminds me of my "bridge walk"shot I don't think anybody saw the people on the arch of the bridge.

I took me a little while before I noticed the person. I really love his/her presence - adds a human touch and a sense of scale!
