Shu - Beautiful shot. I think the PS works here making it dreamy & surreal. Good job! -- Jeannie (jburly)

For some reason this looks better in thumbnail view. Composition, reflections, light and shadow all come together well here. I also like the black and white treatment. Maybe my reservation is due to it being oversharpened? One has to be very careful with sharpening when there is so much high contrast fine detail. I would sharpen selectively in an image like this. --Olaf.dk

Very well done Shu and well seen. The reflections and the dark/light areas really make this shot. Cheers, Vikas.

Shu, I really like this image-- it reminds me of a scene from another era. It makes me think that it might be some person's favorite childhood swimming hole, worn by time, but well remembered.

Hey Andy, I've been so curious about what you meant by "lack of reflective symmetry."

Although the shot has probably benefited from your ps work, i can't say that its the finished article for me. Its a great shot. But the lack of reflective symmetry on the left is distracting.

I agree with Lonnit here. I like the effect much more in this shot. In this one, I'm able to believe that the effect is entirely natural with the light, perhaps, coming from the left and the combination of the direct light and that reflected from the water making for the bright illumination of the house and front edge of whatever it is that it's floating on there. I'm not sure why I should care whether or not it's natural, but I think there is a built-in need in humans (especially some of us who never see aliens or UFOs, or ghosts) for everything we see to have a logical explanation. If the photo "makes sense", then I can relax and enjoy it. If it doesn't, then I have to try to think about why I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing. Too many years of troubleshooting, I guess. It's probably not the proper way to appreciate art but I can't help it. This one doesn't trigger my need to analyze the process, and that's good, I think.

Nothing wrong with that Shu. :) It works very well here b/c the scene still stays realistic. I'm not so thrilled with it in the other b/c it's not real looking, yet not artificial enough to be intentionally artifically affected. What I'm saying is you did it well here, but it was more amateur in the other shot. As soon as I saw it I knew what you had done, but I was confused because I didn't think you ever worked with the effect, so I thought perhaps some buildings or other objects might be causing the shadows. But I'll forgive you b/c you did such a nice job on this one. ;) ~ Lonnit

You have discovered my "dirty little secret!" The view of this little house was stunning, but I wanted to exagerate the lighting in order to bring out its best features. (Sort of a thin layer of makeup to play up the eyes, etc.) LOL ( I like the shimmer on the water the process, which included curves, has produced.) Thanks for your nice comments! Shu

Hey, Lonnitt, thanks for the heads up. No, I haven't found the burn tool yet, but you did cause me to find the Sharpen tool.....Hey, I'll take what I can find. (grin). Of course, Shu, this is lovely. Best Wishes, T
