Sun and Fog*

A photo of the sun through the very inexpensive marine layer filter. Note that this *was* taken during the challenge period, not before. Time zones can really blow.

I actually own the filters to take the shot straight-up. I just did not need them this time.

I plan to pull out my Sigma 80-400 with the 2x teleconverter, and do some sun shots one of these days.

I like this. Perfect for the topic. The sun is a mag -26 astro object from memory, so its nice to be able to capture it with a natural filter.

Now this does capture the spirit of this challenge. And talk about quick out of the gate. There should be an award for quickest post to a challenge!

When these first two shots got posted, I was in the process of setting this up and editing the comments/html. I switched back to the view of what I'd done and there were two photos in it. I thought I'd done something wrong and edited the wrong page. I could just see someone being very mad that I'd now messed up an existing challenge. Only later, when I looked closely, did I realize that these were really photos meant for this challenge.

The fog does make a great filter!... It's wreaking havoc on my astro viewing. Not that you can seem much in N. Park with all the light coming from downtown these days.

I think this one captures the spirit of the challenge quite well.

I took it in the spirit in which it was given. In other words, I gave it as much real thought as the poster put into it. ;)

It was a rude and offensive piece of spam that had no place here. You could tell by the author's 'name' he was a scuzzball. That was not a piece of constructive criticism. You don't just make a nasty comment and walk away. It's immature and unhelpful. Negative criticisms are fine when they are legit - that was not. I'd hoped you hadn't seen it. ~ Lonnit
