This is just great Gerald! The macro is superb and the composition strong. About color - I do my prep on a mac with a large flat display. Things look so great on my computer but when I upload them they lose brightness, especially if I look at them on my PC display instead of my mac. I've also noticed a slight decrease in the quality of color when I saved "for the web" instead of just saving and controling size myself. So saving that was is best I agree. The bad news is you can't control the monitors used by those viewing the picture. I used to use two different computers at work. One had the world's worst monitor - dark and murky. The other was a bit better but much worse than my computers at home. Moral is. Do the best you can and hope that others have good monitors that have been calibrated. Also keep yours calibrated. (I'm not so good at that.) Phew didn't mean to do a treatise while commenting on this great shot. Ann C.

Thank you all for your comments. RK, I have noticed that the colors of this image (and of the peacock feather shot) look slightly different on pbase from how they appear when viewed locally with irfanview or any other viewer software. This is strange because I have as always saved the files with the "for web" option in PS CS. I never have observed any color differences when using this option before. I have now re-uploaded the image. This time I have not used "save for web" so the sRGB color profile is not stripped from the file. This seems to work. But I wonder why it should be necessary to include the sRGB profile now as it was not necessary before. (I have also adjusted curves for higher contrast.) The reason for iso400 is simply my forgetfulness. One of the biggest improvements for the next Canon DSLR would be an iso display in the viewfinder. Gerald

Gerald, Great patterns. The picture seems a little flat (the thumbnail look great). I don't know if this is due to the flash. Any particular reason for iso400 and the shutter speed of 1/200 combination with flash? - RK
