Spider Lightning (*)

Tucson, Az

I loved taking this shot. Never before had I seen anything like it, it's the sort of lightning you don't get in England. The strike involved multiple fingers spreading out from a point source, across the sky and over my head, it took at least a second to complete and was formed of multiple flashes.

This image I have overlevelled* in photoshop so that the contrast is such that only the lightning, shadows and brightly lit rain remain. It looks better in this stylised form than the original.

*New word. Hope you don't mind.
