A cool and refreshing image. --Melanie (mlynn)

Sorry, Earl, didn't see your question until just now. Gamma is just the midpoint slider on the Levels tool. Values less than one will darken the midtones, values greater than one will brighten them. That said, my confidence in my monitor calibration isn't great right now, so take with a grain of salt.

I love everything about this photo except for one thing: the background. To me, that makes it look unnatural. I'm not sure how to change it, but perhaps have the towel extend further back, for one thing. Then perhaps a beach, sand and water or something. My two cents! Great photo!

Earl,

Great photo! I thought the concept was different (& excellent) -- instead of focusing on the red, putting the focus on the green can really makes the red cans stand out. Like the beach towel as well! Ties it all together.

BTW, this is the picture that my daughter keeps asking to see. She loves the "one with the green in the middle".

Sharp, Crisp, Clean; the beach towel is a really cool idea, the green of it going with the mountain dew can; very nice. Cheers. Vikas.

Thanks for the comments. I had fun with this one. This is the first time that I’ve succeeded with an attempt at a high key image. I have to give credit where credit is due... The hand you see not mine, but past challenge winner Ralph Otto's. His hand and advice helped to make the image look as good as it does. Thanks Ralph!

I started out with a white foreground and it looked too plain and dull. Searching for something to put the bucket on that would be interesting and fit the image led to the beach towel idea. I think it works well too.

Mr. Biscuit, my PS experience is limited, please advise me on the steps to adjust the gamma of the cans. (Please and thank you).

Theblue, what did you have in mind as a counterpoint? All Mountain Dew except for 1 Coke?

Anyway thanks again for the feedback everyone.

Nice work, Earl. The green beach towel (?) really adds to the imge, for me. Clever concept. Markjay

Earl,
Nice high key. Makes me thirsty.

Joe,
Isn't there a vile tasting "Code Red" version of Mountain Dew? Something to think about...

Rats. You hit the theme I was going to try to shoot. Time permitting, may still shoot and post. I would perk up the gamma a bit, as the cans seem to be cast in shadow.

I really like this Earl.
Clean,clear and crisp.
I was just thinking though, you could have done a counterpoint on this one.
