And even with us writeing to request it, they still think it unnecessary. :( Oh, and on the cat shot, I even got the exposure just right too. I'm noticing that more and more often I'm getting good exposures that don't need tweaking. The portrait series I did of the kids in the barn all came out with fantastic exposure. I think I'm finally getting the hang of this! LOL! ~ Lonnit

Yup Lonnit, minor changes can really make a world of difference to the shot. It would be nice to have a grid on the viewfinder, that would be cool but unfortunately canon didnt think it necessary.... Oh well :-) Great shot of the cat, perfectly aligned, great lighting, like it a lot and am glad to hear that you are getting it right out of the camera, the verticals/horizontals I mean. Cheers. :-D

Isn't it incredible what such a minor change can do? I've really been improving in getting my compositions right in-camera and so my crops are more of just a tweak now - which I'd really hardly need at all if I could get a darned grid for my viewfinder. For example, here's one I took 3 days ago and I managed to get everything right on the imaginary grid at the moment I shothttp://www.pbase.com/lonnit/image/41600848. It feels good that it's happening more and more frequently. LOL! ~ Lonnit

Thanks a lot Lonnit, took your advice and DIDN'T reshoot. :-) Thanks for your comments, you always bring a HUGE smile to my face :-D..... and yes you are absolutely correct, the rotation did make a big difference to the pic.

Thanks Mark, appreciate it, yes the rotation made a big difference.

Cheers. Vikas

The rotation "did it", your images is now PERFECT!! Markjay

DO NOT RESHOOT THIS!!!!!!!! Now that it is in it's proper horizontality the angle of the first bottle's bottom ENHANCES the perspective - it's angle helps exaggerate the perspective causing it to be an extremely dynamic and exciting shot helping thrust the eye across the scene with a dazzling energy!!! For me the rotation brought this from an "eh, no biggie, Vikas is MUCH better than this." to a "Wow! Vikas is quite a well-rounded photog - anywhere he shoots, he shoots with outstanding guality!". Imagine! Hard to believe that a slight bit of rotation had been such an incredible detriment to this shot, hiding it's greatness! ~ Lonnit

Thanks Mikel. :-)

Ha Ha Lonnit, wish I had more time, would have defintely shot something ethnic in sunlight and outdoors for this but unfortunately am pressed for time :-) Should have tried to though. And thanks for pointing out the non verticality of the bottles, have corrected that now, wonder how I missed it in the first place?

Mark, really wanted to reshoot this and try the bottoms to be similar but find that all the bottles are different so dont know how exactly to do that. Hmmmm, need to find new bottles.

Thanks Grant. :-)

Cheers. Vikas.

Great colors and composition.

Lonnit, you are right and I forgot to mention that to Vikas... the slight rotation needed. However the bottle shame on the red bottle could be turned so that the glass bottome does not appear slanted / crooked also. Markjay

Very nice and clean. I never expected this was a Vikas - no sunlight, no character lines, no outdoors, no ethnicity... LOL! BTW, it's not the bottom of the bottles throwing it... the shot needs to be rotated counterclockwise a bit as the bottles are not quite vertical. ~ Lonnit

I see your point. Regardless, the colors are absolutely brilliant.

Thanks Mikel for looking and for your comment. Actually I purposely kept the DOF such, as too much DOF would make the pic boring IMHO. Would love to know what others think of this..... shallower than this would be too little, more than this would be too much, I feel. Thanks.

Thanks Mark, your comments and critiques are always welcome and thank you for that. Great suggestion on turning the red bottle and the others at a similar angle, will try that out hopefully tomorrow (time permitting), but fear that the bottom of these glasses aren't even as they are hand blown individually and in fact also vary in height (had to line them up just so). Will post the result if I can get the bottoms even. :-) Thanks again.

Thanks a lot D, appreciate it. :-)

Cheers. Vikas.

Vikas, your work is always quality and I love to look at it! Thank you!
:-D

Nice color work, Vikas. I happen to like the DOF the way it is for me personally.
What I might have done (and you know I'm a nut for details) is I might have rotated the bottles so that the sham (?) of the bottles (the bottom glass mold) was turned straight on each and every bottle. The bottle on the left's bottom is currently on an angle that gives the illusion that the bottle is crooked, but it's not. Hope you do not mind my sharing this even though you did not denote an asterisk for critique? Best regards, Markjay

I like the strong colors in this photo. I would have liked more depth of field, though.
