I really like the way the light beams down across that fabulous wall, and the bits and pieces below. I do like the one without the lampshade better I think. --Melanie

I agree with most others that the photo would be eons better without the lampshade solors...it is too demanding for attention...great phot as is, excellent without the lampshade!!

Mister Upsidedown! Whatever else can you do in upstate NY when it's cold outside? :-)
I absolutely LOVE the green and gold color combination in this image. Now, crop off or "clone out" that LIGHT fixture and you have a really beautiful, "clean" image with nothing distracting the eye from viewing your beautiful still life image. Hope you don't mind my suggestion? BTW, you did a really nice job of framing the image as well!

I found these objects in a dark corner of a juice bar in Ithaca, NY :)

I like the cropped version better. Oh, and can someone explain the title, please? To me, it has absolutely no relevance to the image at all.

I've got to add my vote for the cropped version.

I like the shot, and agree with cropping the lamp out.

OT: Odd thing to discover "Ithaca" here... this morning I saw and "Ithaca" decal on a car in front of me and my mind started playing around with the word and different pronunciations of it and where it's origins might lie. Then I come here to find "Ithaca" below your shot. My brain sometimes does that. Once I was selling a car and the word nevus (a type of mole) popped into my head for no reason. It was stuck there for days and would keep popping up. I got a phone call about the car; someone wanted to come see it. The couple showed up and ended up buying it. Her name was Nevus! Freaky yes, but uncommon for me? No! LOL!

Me 2! The lamp shade competes for attention and is actually the fist thing you look at because it is the brightest. Without the lamp in the frame, the attention is where it should be: The flowers and the outlets. The beam of light and the textures really add interest! --Olaf.dk

I like the cropped one in the exhibition gallery better :)

Gayle, that was my first thought and I actually cropped and prepared an image without the lamp. But after looking at both of them (with and without the lamp) decided to post not cropped one. :)

I'll post the cropped one in the exhibition gallery for comparison. upsidedown

Heh. "Juice Bar" means different things in different places. It has a very interesting meaning in Kansas City.

Nice photo; (*) I agree that different crops or compositions might be warranted (the shade is perhaps a bit too cut-in-half?) -Ed Hahn

From glancing at the thumbnail I actually thought that was a figure sitting on a wooden floor beneath a window...
I like the lampshade, but Gayle might just have a point about cropping it out. Phil

This would be fantastic if the brightly coloured light shade was cropped out, just leaving the cone of light and the subjects. Wonderful muted colours and textures.
