New York City, 57th street

Seeing one person being totally oblivious to a homeless person disturbed me immensely.

I agree with the comments about croping the top, so here it is.

Yes, I can see what your saying, just the sombre brick wall would really have added more dimension to this image.
As for the focus , yes it is unfortunate, but after looking through a few galleries on street photography I found the main theme seemed to be human statement linked to some other element in the shot, with many not so focused or exposed to perfection.

This is really sums up what street life is about, the fine line between having or having nothing at all. As far as the image I think it's a powerful presentation of the way our society views the homeless. It's unfortunate that it is out of focus and that you failed to crop the top portion of the image I think it detracts , but that's just my point of view.

This crop is so much better! The whole situation is "in your face," so to speak. It really makes an impression. Shu

I missed the previous versions of this picture. I especially like the way the suited man seems to be avoiding a glance at the man on the ground. -- Victor

Definately the crop has lifted this image immensely also reverting to grey scale has given it added impact.
excellent capture.

I tried what David M suggested and I agree... --Olaf.dk

I think this image would be a lot more powerful if three things were different:

1. Sharpness (well, can't fix this - but it's acceptably sharp for this size)
2. Brightness - it is FAR too light for my taste. I think it should be reprocessed with some -EV correction
3. Color - I think this would be a far more effective picture in BW. The color isn't adding anything to this image, so you might as well remove 'em.

Done.
If the gentlemans face had been in focus this image would be hard to pass by. As it is though it still delivers with impact.

You need to compress this image to under 153K it is oversized for the contest.
I'll see if I can do it for you.
