This is much better Pete. Nice job on the crop. It's a great catch overall.

Revisited image, cropping out the bank without, I hope, removing too much of the splash... Tend to agree with the distraction bit, I had this cropped before posting, keeping part of the bank and the full splash but felt it looked unbalanced.

The duck was sitting on the bank as I walked along the canal tow path, jumping in at the last minuite. So getting a clean open water shot was out of the question, unfortunately! The splash however was exactly what as I wanted. Thanks for the comments.

great catch Pete. I know it's difficult to do when photographing birds but for the sake of composition, I would have been great if this duck were in the middle of the pond/lake instead of by the distracting shore line. However, you captured the water droplets perfectly.
