Yes, Phil, you were the inspiration. I was more worried about getting hot oil on the photographer than I was of getting it on the photographic equipment. Besides that's what a UV filter is for. This picture was shot with a 50mm and the camera was a good distance, well let's say a safe distance, away from the hot oil. There is no resizing of this picture. It's a severe crop of the original image at the original size. Yes, it is a still life. The only thing moving was me when a kernel poped! LOL
Ah, so that was the idea I inspired you to try! I agree with Lonnit that you are brave (though this comes from the man who stuck his 24-70 right up to a kiln vent at 745 degrees just to get a picture...)
Anyway, can this be classed as a "still life" if the oil is bubbling? :)
Phil
Shouldn't that be Pop's Corn? LOL! Boy, you're a risk taker - you got your camera that close to boiling oil with little bombs implanted in it? You like to live dangerously! LOL! I'm on the edge of my seat anticipating the next POP!!!! ~ Lonnit
