Crop the left, crop the right, crop the top, crop the bottom, then let's see...is that a candy stick or a coat hook?
Just kidding it's nice how it is and i am sure you don't need advice on cropping.
A stand alone, very obvious bent barbers poll that looks like a fish hook. :)

Olaf - your crop is very similar to the vertical shot I have which I'll post as soon as I get to my other computer. I like your yellow bg as well... maybe I'll play with the other image before posting - Tracy!

I did wonder if the "artifacts" were just the candy itself, but the more I looked the more it seemed not - especially on the far left near the top... Phil

Nice to see the background so simple and uncluttered. I vote for cropping though. Imagine using this as a letter - spelling a word together with other alphanumerical photos - needs to be cropped. Also, I feel tempted to alter the color of the background - maybe to a florescent green or something... --Olaf

Thanks for the comments Phil. The 'jpeg' artifacts you see are actually just rough edges on the candy... that's the way they come... no cut & paste in this image. To me, it's actually the bg that looks 'noisy', but that's the texture on the bg which is gold foamcore.
As to the crop... yeah... I probably could do that, but my personal taste is for lots of empty space... it makes the image more minimalistic, which is what I often try to strive for. As there a no other distracting features, I decided to leave it uncropped. I do have a vertical image without so much space... maybe I'll post that one later too, and see what the general consensus is. Thanks again for your comments - Tracy!

Can't argue with that! I'll take on Grant's mantle here and query the composition - or, as he says "crop!".
There also seems to be some nasty jpeg artifacts on the candy - either that or you've copied it form somewhere and haven't used the feather on the edges. Phil
