Early Morning Snack*

San Jose, CA

Hummingbird stopping in for an early breakfast on my balcony.

Lots of stalking with a big lens required. People in nearby apartments all looked at me funny since I pretty much stood motionless with my camera pointed at what looked like empty space to them at the time...

Nathan,
**VERY** nice. Not a typical hummingbird shot. It gives me the feeling that I am seeing something that no one has seen before. I love the use of a silhouette. I like the shadow on the right as well. If you crop, don't cut off the entire shadow. Roberta

Nice execution on a very tricky subject. Freezing the wings like that is especially commendable.

Very nice, but crop off some of the empty space off of the bottom and right side.

ok, just having spent about an hour taking aim at my neighborhood hummingbirds, I must say this is beautiful. My wings are totally blurred, this pefectly captured, fully extended wing is so wonderful, but you already knew that. This has to be one of the most challenging shots, from a capturing a flight, in this challenge. Great work. I have a new personal goal.

Beautiful capture! (*) Perhaps crop off a bit of the very bottom and right side? That might also help with the previous comment... - Ed Hahn

I have to give you credit on this one. I is harder than hell to capture a humming bird!!!
I wish you had a little flash to bring him out or have solid color background to make the silhouette stand out more. The background as is I find to be distracting.

Wow.

On most hummingbird photos, the wings are moving, but you captured it at full extention of it's little wings... I love the silouette and the transparency of the wings. It's also perfectly captured in the light area. Great job! -Byron
