Thanks for the feedback Lonnit. The makeup was meant to be dramatic and unconventional. I suppose there's always a risk in trying something that's different with makeup. Perhaps the reason that it's not been done is because it's not pleasing to most people. - Jon Stern

I just figured out my problem with this shot. It's well done. It's just that the makeup is a turn-off to me. You did your job, it's actually well done and the pose is good as well. The makeup is masking your abilities. There have been shots where the models were very professionally prepped with hair and makeup. These shots got rave reviews. But, much of the beauty in the shot was the professional work of others. Not that the photog couldn't have messed up, but I felt people were so swayed by the beauty of the subject that nobody was looking at the actual photography. I noted flaws in composition that were overlooked. Had it been an "every-day face" that was shot, those technical photography flaws would have been much more apparent. So, in a nutshell, I think the subject is working against you here. It's a well lit, well composed shot. Nice job. ~ Lonnit
