Ok, Phil, I'm willing to admit that the compression was NOT intended! LOL! ;) Gotta love ya! ~ Lonnit

So, you over-sharpened, over-saturated and compressed for effect... in that case you have 100% achieved you goal, well done!
I never said I hated it... that's such a strong word...
(Just kidding wid'ya :) )

Ok, I see them now. I wasn't looking there. Particularly strong on the inside edge of the left post where it meets the mat. Oversharpening was part of the intentional weirdness. LOL! You still hate it even though the "mistakes" were intentional! LOL! ~ BTW, I tried to shoot my intended subject tonight but couldn't do the shots I wanted to do. Sniffle! ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, the jpeg artifacts are the jaggies on the edge of the posts. I must admit they are less obvious now I am home on a profiled monitor, but they are still there. Also, it still looks over-sharpened. I did see some posterisation in the sky too, but I don't see it now. I think the fact that the twins are there does lend to the surreal look too... Phil

Thanks for commenting Phil. The image is meant to be surreal and jarring. I was going for an unusal affected look. The saturation is intended as part of the effect - it was pushed to almost 100%. I don't know if you're referring to the black spots on the posts, but they are dirt marks. I do see there is a bit of artifacting where the dirt spots meet the paint. If you mean the ground, that's not artifacts - that is a rubber mat made of multi-colored rubber pellets. It was supposed to be yikesy - strange colorings in the skin, a black & white sky, and of course the odd angle. All in all, the image was supposed to fall on the weird side. I was experimenting. LOL! I've not been able to get downtown to do the actual shoot that I've planned for this challenge. Hopefully I'll get there this evening. I know what I want to shoot and how I want it to look - I've just not been able to get there. These shots were more or less experimental temps. :) ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, there's a lot (I'm sorry) which jars in this image. It looks (to me) over-saturated; in addition, at this size and compression there are *loads* of jpeg artifacts (especially on the posts). I can't quite decide if it's just those that are the problems or not, but as a whole the image just made me think "yikes". It may be a lot better at full size, but as it stands... Phil
