I've not had a chance to re-shoot, so I've tried to improve the image a little. I've taken some of Joe's cues, but not all (hey, I'm not a total copy-cat!). A tighter crop, stronger contrast and a little colour tweaking. Still not fantastic, but better, I think. Phil

Joe, yes you're absolutely right, this is little more than a snapshot - I'm sure you know how hard it is to get a 16month old to perform on demand! I knew as soon as I saw it that I should have bounced the flash, but I really was fighting against time, I managed 4 shots, of which 2 were mis-timed before he decided he was bored of me and the camera, and my batteries in the flash were low meaning long recycle times. Not that I'm making excuses... (*grin*). As this is his favourite action at the moment I'll hopefully get a chance at a re-shot...
Your treatment, though, is a real improvement - though the extra softness is not 100% to my taste, but I know that's your current trade-mark :)

Phil: Given the light-hearted baiting in your caption, you invite full commentary. Had this been mine [*sMiLe*], I would have bounced the flash off the ceiling or a nearby wall. The harsh, head-on light gives this a snapshot look, particularly given the dark, but still discernible, background. Also, the center-comp in a square frame robs it of some interest. Borrowing a page from Olaf's book, I took some liberties -->http://www.pbase.com/image/31014120. A tad more mischief...
