Hey, those tiles mysteriously got more defined! LOL! ~ Lonnit

The hand is absolutely flawless. Ok, yes, I'm going with Olaf on the separation of hand and faucet, only b/c the hand is just soooo beautifully done that I don't want anything to detract from it. I'm also going to support Phil in his key comment, although, IMO, that only applies to the tiles in the upper 3rd of the shot. They got a bit too washed out so the brightness tends to pull one's focus away from the hand a bit, which is the most important part of the shot - all else is window dressing. The square format is most excellent in keeping with the squares of the tiles, although perhaps a tad underappreciated by the fact that we're losing out on the effect of th tiles in the fact that they overexposed a bit. I do ADORE the high key though, don't get me wrong on that - it's only the uppermost tiles in the middle. The top row, far right, is fine. The middle ones have been whited out. I'd like a bit more defined. The middle ones are ok. Ahhhhhhh I see now - the fingers draw the eye up, the faucet continues to draw it up and towards the angle. Once one leaves the faucet we are left in nowhere land. That's why more definition in the tiles is essential - we need them to stop us from continuing to drift upward and out of the frame altogether. Now it's just like we skid off the ice with no guard rail. Absolutely fantastic capture, really! Just keep up from wandering off! You never cease to astound me! ~ Lonnit

iso3200 great "KISS" therory photo and one that draws you in and makes you think more about what is happening or has happend than just the out side picture.
Well done.

Yay! You used the high-key effect very well. It suits this image. I think others allready said the things that came to my mind about this pic: composition, aspect ratio, etc... :) -Arn

Be afraid... be very afraid... oh, must go, there's someone at the door... Phil

Thanks for all your comments. I'll reveal a bit more of the story of this image at close of play, but personally I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. Now Phil, are you in the house alone?
Guest 07-Jul-2004 14:44
100% ISO, but I have my contrary head on today so...
For me, it's *too* high-key (if that's possible).
Would a different crop have worked better? Perhaps (as Olaf says) more separation of the taps? I'm honestly not sure, but I will say this: this is my least favourite ISO image in a long time.
OK, shoot me now... I'll get my coat :) Phil

Stunning image ISO, great idea, love the high key effect... kind of like, 'I know what you did last summer' feel to this photograph................ Vikas

Brilliant. Gripping (sorry for the pun), powerful, beautifully shot. The cerulean toning is perfect for this. I like the square crop -- so different from your usual wide pannys. Like Joe said, one of your best (and you have a lot of them.)

Superb. Best iso image I've seen in a while. Full of character, with just the right amount of stuff in-fame. Normally, I'm not a fan of high-key images, but it works extremely well here. I could easily see this as a movie poster. Damned nice.

iso, most of us know that you are a very creative and talented photographer. Looking at this makes me wonder how much was intentional from the start and how much of it just happened, while shooting and in post? Things I think about: The square aspect ratio - is that inspired by the tiles for example? The almost centered, but not quite, water faucet and showerhead? The overlapping of the faucet and the hand? Actually I think the image would be better if the plumbing and the hand had been more separated, having the faucet further to the right. Nevertheless, a very good photo - one that cannot go by unnoticed. A strong image that provokes the viewer to think and wonder. I would have preferred a question mark at the end of the title though... --Olaf

This isn't a photograph, it's a short story. Possibly a comedy, possibly a tragedy... great idea, great job.

Creepy and bluish! You've used composition, color and contrast to create the mystery! Shu

This is a rather creepy title to go with the image. Nice use of high-key and toning. -Ed Hahn
