Olaf, This is a piano, so are unsharp keys flats? There's something about the color in this picture I don't like. Maybe Olaf hinted at it. Maybe it's just something else in the room that's reflecting off the keys. This might be better as a B&W. -- Victor

UMMM nice shot - just really clean.

I think that's a very good idea for a pattern shot. A pair of blurred hands moving over the keys would be nice.

I felt the same way about the unsharp keys in the front, but I don't really think it is a DOF-issue. I think it is because the unsharp keys in the front are also the brightest ones. The brightness draws your eye there - and then it is unsharp, which is kind of frustrating. How about a re-shoot with more even lighting - or the brightest light where the keys are sharp? If you choose to re-shoot I have one more suggestion: clean (dust off) the keys before shooting! No matter if you re-shoot or not, the slight red tint (reflections?) in some parts doesn't do anything good for the image - imo, it would be better as a pure black and white photo. --Olaf

This works very well, and the B&W lends the right note (so to speak) of abstraction. The shallow DOF works well, but I'd like a little bit more sharpness in the foreground.

This is great Earl. Like the light and DOF in it and the whole composition is very well balanced.

Earl! I love this one!!! One of the nicest abstract shots of a piano I've seen. Beautiful use of diagonal to strengthen it. Great shot!
