Thanks for all your inputs. I think although the colors are not immediately compliment of the other, it has somewhat some qualities that do. The car was a beaten old VW, and I would think that the light blue shade under the paint is most likely the primer, but then again, Victor may be right and it could be a different paint. I guess we'll leave it as a mystery.... Erwin
Actually, now that I look at it again, it looks like someone painted the car and changed his mind, sanding off the outer color revealing the complementary color underneath. Maybe in preparation for a new coat of paint. -- Victor
Roberta, I didn't at first either, but after I looked for a while, it was so obvious. The color of the car is complementary to the polish powder/paste, or whatever that is. -- Victor

I don't see the complementary colors in this shot but it's a great shot anyway! The composition and close crop are perfect for showing the interesting details on this old VW. Roberta
